Needed a new years treat and decided to check out Lavender Moon. Soooooo good! Tasted home made. Cool storefront. Intimate and simple. Could have used a glass of milk but that didn't stop me from enjoying my Italian love cake flavor. Delicious!!! I will be back!
Shout out to Yelp for helping me discover this amazing cupcake shop. I got a dozen for a party I hosted and was not disappointed. There are so many flavors and they all tasted so delicious! The cake part is good but the icing is AMAZING. A dozen cost about 48 and it's worth it. One cupcake is very filling.
What a beautiful cupcakery in a quaint part of Old Town Alexandria. Not only does it fit right in with the vibe of the stores and surroundings, from the minute you walk in - you are warmly welcomed by the aromas of freshly baked cupcakes!!! I personally have never been to a bakery with such a huge variety of unique cupcake flavours!! From Devils Food Cake with peanut butter mousse... to Boston Cream Pie... Lemon Cake Blackberry Buttercream... and Pistachio Cake with Cherry Pistachio Mascarpone frosting OOOOOHHHH MYYY!!! I would definitely recommend!!
These are some of the best cupcakes in the area with lots of variations to choose from. Staff is friendly and helpful and are always willing to walk you through their selections. However a few things of matter: this place needs some tidying up because it feels like you are walking into some little girls messy doll house, Also the entrance is not all that welcoming and unless you really know what you're going in for, it feels like you are entering a trap house. There is also no online presence making it very hard to plan or order. You have to call or visit to know what are the options of the day and that is very inconvenient. Their space has so much potential and I feel that I could sit and enjoy a cupcake inside if the place didn't feel like I'm about to get lured, kidnapped and taken upstairs or somewhere in the back. I buy those cupcakes hyper vigilant and dash right out!
They may only have one gluten free flavor, but it is such a treat to bite into their GF cupcakes! I love that they use almond flour because that is so healthy for me. Moreover, their chocolate frosting tastes like candy. It's the best frosting that I have ever tasted!
